Foreign Guest Eligibility
Chinese law requires accommodation operators to register foreign guests with the police system. International chains (Hilton, Marriott, IHG, etc.) and major domestic chains (like Home Inn, Hanting) are all qualified. Some boutique B&Bs and family guesthouses are not — confirm before booking.

Booking Tips
Ctrip (Trip.com) has a “accepts foreign guests” filter — most convenient. Hotels on Booking.com and Agoda in China are generally qualified. For ancient towns and popular scenic areas during peak seasons (May Day, National Day, summer), book 2–4 weeks ahead or you’ll find nothing available.
