1. What We Collect

This is a content site with no accounts and no real-name requirement. We come into contact with three kinds of information only, each limited to what is needed to run the site:

• What you submit on purpose: the nickname, email and message text you leave in the guestbook, and the email address you enter in the footer subscription box.
• Technical information generated automatically: how many times each article was opened (counted per article ID, never linked to a person); the IP and browser string kept briefly for spam and rate limiting; and a suggested interface language inferred from your access region.
• What stays on your own device: the interface language you pick is carried in the page address, and your packing-list progress on the tools page is saved in your browser (localStorage) and never uploaded.

2. How We Use It

Messages are used to publish them in the guestbook — only the nickname and text are shown, never the email. Subscription emails are used only to send you notifications of new content. View counts help us understand what is useful and improve our coverage and layout.

IP and browser strings are used only to spot abnormal traffic (spam prevention and rate limiting), and those records expire automatically after a short period. We never sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies. The interface language is determined by the page address (for example ?lang=en) and your access region, so no persistent identifier needs to be written to your browser.

The tools page writes your packing-list progress to browser localStorage. It exists only on your device; clearing browser data removes it, and we cannot read it.

4. Third-Party Services

To keep the site running we rely on the following third parties. They process request data only as far as necessary and are governed by their own privacy policies:

• Cloudflare: hosting, content delivery, storage of view counts and guestbook/subscription records, and the country lookup used to suggest a language.
• Exchange rate API (exchangerate-api): the currency converter on the tools page calls this API directly from your browser, so that request reveals your IP. If it is unavailable, the page falls back to built-in sample rates.
• Email delivery (Resend): used only when you subscribe and email notifications are enabled, to deliver the confirmation message to the address you entered.

5. Retention and Security

View counts are cumulative numbers kept long term for trend analysis. Guestbook and subscription records are kept until you ask us to delete them, or until they are no longer needed. Spam-prevention IP records expire automatically after a short period.

The whole site is served over HTTPS and we apply reasonable technical measures such as access control. Still, no transmission over the internet is absolutely secure and we cannot promise zero risk.

6. Your Rights

You may ask at any time to access, correct or delete the information you submitted (messages, subscription email). Email [email protected] describing what you want handled and we will act on it promptly. You can also unsubscribe by replying to any newsletter.

7. Minors

This site is aimed at general travellers and is not directed at children. Users under 14 should use it with a guardian and avoid submitting personal contact details.

8. Policy Updates

This policy may change as our features and the law evolve. Updates are published on this page with a refreshed date at the bottom, and significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
